Very tricky arithmetic! Note: This must be done in your head only .
Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it..

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000 . Now add 30.
Add another 1000 . Now add 20 . Now add another 1000
Now add 10 . What is the total?

Today was the first day of kindergarten!  I have to be honest…I was quite nervous.  This is the first year I have ever felt this way.  I think I was scared of keeping control of 56, no-make that 58 now, 5 year olds…not to mention remembering all of their names!  After everyone got there and we got going I felt much better.  I have the most adorable students.  I would post pictures of them if I could, but I can’t, so I won’t.  They are so excited about school and some even asked for homework today.  It is the FIRST day and they want homework!  Holy cow!  I just hope I can keep up that enthusiasm and excitement!

Well, it is that time again…back to school!  I am excited but quite stressed out because I have 54 students this year.  Ahh!  Thursday was our open house and I got to meet all my new little kindergarteners!  They are adorable.  It was also fun because students from past years always come and visit.  I miss them!  I’m also stressed because my prinicipal asked me to be team leader this year and it has taken up a lot of time already.  It is like a second full time job.  So, if you don’t see or hear from me much, you’ll know why.

The BEST two years of my life!  Love ya Jonny!

1. Pick up the nearest book to you (one of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

“I’ll have that someday, thought Peter.  Someone who’ll kiss me goodbye at the door.  Or maybe just someone to put a blindfold over my head before they shoot me.”

(That comes from Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card…just in case you were wondering)

I tag:  Jon (cuz he LOVES books), Katie, Marcee, Aubrey and Sarah.  Have fun!

No, not the lonely, depressed kind of blue.  Blue, as in the color blue.  I was bored so I took a color personality test online that tells you what your favorite color says about you:

Blue is an emotional color. People with a blue personality stay inside themselves and do not trust people very much. They watch every move others make. Pale shades of blue show someone who wants everything in order. Their closet is immaculate. As blue moves to the deeper end of color, it becomes more moody and shows it.
People who prefer this color frequently use their emotions to make decisions. They are also easily affected by the moods of those around them. They sometimes expect you to feel down whenever they are. Showing signs of co-dependency, they need you to be by their side experiencing their feelings.

I don’t really think that describes me very well.  What do you think?  I promise I’m not a stalker! I do like the part about “wanting everything in order” though.  That is definitely true!

The Good Napkins

My mother taught me to read when I was four years old (her first mistake). One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the cabinet doors was ajar. I read the box in the cabinet. I then asked my mother why she was keeping ‘napkins’ in the bathroom. Didn’t they belong in the kitchen?

Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that those were for ‘special occasions’(her second mistake). Now fast forward a few months….It’s Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up my uncle and his wife for dinner. Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone. Mine was to set the table.

When they returned, my uncle came in first and immediately burst into laughter. Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling. Next came my father, who roared with laughter. Then came Mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw each place setting on the table with a ‘special occasion’ Kotex napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top. I had even tucked the little tails in so they didn’t hang off the edge!! My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of laughter. “But, Mom, you said they were for special occasions!!!”

(EDIT/DISCLAIMER: After reading some of the comments about this post, I’ve decided I should tell you that the child is this story is NOT me.  Sounds like something I would do though. I should have mentioned that at first, huh?!  Sorry for the confusion!)

I know this book was written for “young adults” but I found it very entertaining even at my age.  This is from the same author that wrote the Fablehaven series and he has a VERY vivid imagination!  Enjoy!

All I can say is:  FINALLY!

(Deanne: Sorry this post isn’t the same as the one in your dream, but, for now, it is just as exciting!)
